Long rumoured, the deal to sell Holden-built Chev badged cars to US police forces is essentially a done deal.

Production of the police cars would start at the end of 2010, putting cars on the beat in early 2011.

Holden will sell V8 versions first but direct-injected V6 version will follow nine months later.

The NSW Police Dog Unit was formed in 1932.

services such as general purpose, drug,

firearms/explosive detection, urban

search/rescue and cadaver dogs

Police have charged a youth after an alleged incident at Port Macquarie Police Station yesterday (July 5).

About 1:20pm, the male allegedly entered the police station and threatened staff with a bottle containing a concoction of chemicals.

After allegedly attempting to ignite the contents, the teenager was arrested and in the interests of public safety an exclusion zone was established around the premises.

HAZMAT officers attended and the area was declared safe at 3pm.

No police personnel were injured and police operations weren’t affected as a result of the incident.

Four people were taken to hospital after a head-on collision between two cars on the Oxley Highway. A Holden Commodore sedan travelling east along the highway crossed unbroken lines while negotiating a right-hand bend and hit a Honda CRV travelling in the opposite direction. The highway was blocked for a short time while the vehicles were towed away and a fuel spill was mopped up.

Operation Safe Arrival is NSW Police’s annual Christmas holiday traffic enforcement operation

Port Macquarie's Commonwealth Bank was evacuated and part of Horton St was blocked after a man deposited a suspicious parcel at the branch and threatened an employee.

Staff and customers were evacuated from the bank before specialist Hazmat crews in protective suits and breathing apparatus removed the gift wrapped parcel from the counter.

It was later found the parcel did not contain anything dangerous.

A concept police vehicle, based on the Holden VE SV6 Commodore, was built to trial advanced information and communication technologies including remote network access, automated number plate and fingerprint recognition, video surveillance access, live traffic feeds and vehicle diagnostics.

The advanced police car has five networks including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi which allows it to connect to PDAs or stream a live video feed to other police cars.
